Freshwater Oasis at Discovery Cove invites guests to explore a lush, tropical environment inspired by the unique ecosystems of a flooded rainforest. Winding waterways, shallow terraces and intimate animal encounters create a serene setting where guests can wade through crystal-clear pools, discover marmoset monkeys perched in the treetops and watch playful otters swim along the banks.

To bring this immersive environment to life, Nassal fabricated and installed rockwork throughout the exhibit, including the pools, waterways, pool bottoms and animal habitats. Every surface was sculpted and treated to reflect the textures and natural patterns found in a flooded forest, soft, organic forms that feel both inviting and wild.

The design called for more than just realistic rockwork. Nassal also created sculpted concrete trees that are both scenic and interactive, encouraging natural animal behaviors like climbing and playing while blending seamlessly into the landscape. These custom trees were carefully shaped and carved on site to capture the twisted, water-worn look of rainforest trunks, adding depth and authenticity to the space.

In addition, Nassal fabricated functional elements, including steel handrails and planters, designed to resemble root systems emerging from the forest floor. These elements support the overall guest journey while maintaining the organic aesthetic, blurring the line between built environment and natural setting.

Freshwater Oasis is a fully integrated habitat where every detail, from the curves of the pool edges to the branching forms of the trees, contributes to a story rooted in nature, exploration and animal connection.
