Nassal created a one-of-a-kind Gorilla exhibit that combines dramatic scenic elements with structural precision. Massive fallen deadfall trees, sculpted in shotcrete and reinforced with structural steel, span the habitat to form bridges that allow gorillas to pass over a muddy ravine where Red River Hogs roam and play. Around the perimeter, shotcrete mud bank containment walls and stone sheer walls with cascading waterfalls enhance the landscape, while realistic vines and interior shotcrete trees provide both climbing opportunities and enrichment features. In the indoor play areas, supportive hemp vines add movement and authenticity, allowing the gorillas to interact naturally with their surroundings.

The adventure begins for guests as they enter the African Forest along a winding path that opens into a village trading outpost. Surrounded by small, round huts and a central fire pit, visitors are immediately immersed in the story of a lush African landscape. As they journey deeper into the exhibit, guests encounter some of the remarkable species that call the Congo Basin home, including gorillas, chimpanzees, white rhinos, kudu, antelope, ostriches, giraffes and cheetahs.

Through immersive scenic fabrication and carefully engineered habitats, Nassal helped create an environment that not only supports animal welfare but also delivers a powerful storytelling experience. The Gorilla exhibit seamlessly blends naturalistic design with themed construction, offering both animals and visitors a truly authentic connection to the wild.
