The Caribbean-inspired Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando Resort offers guests an island escape in the heart of the action. From the moment visitors arrive, they’re transported into a lush tropical paradise where blue waterfalls tumble across stone outcroppings and the rhythm of relaxation sets the tone for the entire stay. At the heart of this experience is the resort’s signature 16,000-square-foot pool surrounded by vibrant landscaping and cascading water features that capture the spirit of the islands.
To bring this immersive environment to life, Nassal designed and built more than 47,000 square feet of rockwork throughout the resort’s feature pool and dramatic show falls. Every element was thoughtfully crafted to evoke the rugged beauty of Caribbean island rockscapes, natural, weathered and full of movement. All rockwork was engineered as structural, requiring a minimum 4-inch structural shotcrete coat followed by a 2-inch texture coat. This allowed the scenic elements to function as both architectural features and artistic focal points, blending form and function seamlessly.
Beyond technical execution, our team applied scenic treatments and finishes to ensure the rockwork reflected the unique geologic characteristics of the region with organic textures, rich tonal variation and careful integration into the surrounding landscape. The result is an environment that feels authentic and timeless, offering guests moments of discovery and relaxation around every corner.
With its cascading waterfalls, lush tropical setting and resort-style design, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort delivers an unforgettable guest experience, and Nassal’s rockwork craftsmanship plays a central role in setting the scene.
