Amado Saade, one of Lexington’s newest Junior Designers, was recently in Florida to present his paper about creating a new space-grade 3D printer filament so NASA can 3D print heat shields. This paper is now being published in the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) journal, the largest aerospace publication in the US. The paper was a follow up to his senior design project for school (Amado attended the University of Texas, Austin for Mechanical Engineering), and he decided to write about his interest Ð manufacturing, even though he was interested in entertainment. He had no idea that this was a NASA sponsored project. His professor was so impressed, he submitted it to the AIAA for publication in their journal, and it was selected it to be published.
